World Series Game 7 Attracts 51M Audience Members In the United States, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The nail-biting extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined over 50 million viewers in the US, Canada, and Japan markets. MLB reported this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic finale after the 1991 showdown featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Breakdown

Last Saturday’s epic game drew over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It additionally is the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This represents a 16% improvement over the previous finale between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth place.

International Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game averaged 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in the country after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Averages and Trends

The entire seven-match World Series recorded 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete US average was 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09M watchers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and the network’s best playoff ratings since 2017.

MLB stated that the World Series was televised in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen different tongues.
